There are homes that are simply listed, and then there are homes that deserve a spotlight.
987 Shipmaster Avenue in Myrtle Beach is one of those properties. It's not flashy or loud, but it stands out for all the right reasons. It has character, thoughtful design, and a story behind it that makes it unlike anything else on the market.
This isn't your typical renovation. It's a home that's been completely reimagined over time, with smart, sophisticated updates that elevate its original charm while bringing in a fresh, modern feel. And that transformation didn't happen overnight.
I first showed this home to my clients back in December of 2023. It had good bones, but the layout was more traditional and closed-off than what most buyers are looking for today. The finishes were also dated-yellow-toned hardwood floors, red tile, older cabinetry, and styling that felt frozen in a different era. It's likely that combination is what caused many others to overlook it. But even with all of that, there was something about the home that just felt right to my clients.
They came back again in February, and once more in April. We toured plenty of other homes during that time, but none of them fit quite like this one did. The timing, however, wasn't quite right. My clients needed a longer closing period and had a home sale contingency, and those needs didn't align with what the sellers were looking for at the time.
Thankfully, the home sat long enough for things to align. When my clients were finally in a position to move forward, it was still available, and we locked it down in April of 2024.
What should have been a straightforward 30-day closing turned into a drawn-out process that nearly tripled in length. A difficult lender and a problematic appraisal created ongoing delays and mounting frustration. At one point, I even knocked on the appraiser's door just to get the issue addressed and keep things moving forward.
During that time, the sellers nearly walked away from the deal more than once. My clients were starting to lose hope. But thankfully, both myself and the listing agent stayed committed to the process. We worked together, got creative, and did everything we could to hold it together. That collaboration is what ultimately saved the transaction, and we finally closed in July.
Since then, the home has been transformed from top to bottom. My clients spent over a year planning and executing a renovation that brought in modern European-inspired finishes, clean lines, and high-end materials throughout. The original red tile and yellow-toned hardwood are long gone, replaced with wide-plank, European-imported white oak that instantly warmed up the entire home. Natural light now pours in through custom European windows, adding brightness and life to every space.
The kitchen was redesigned with a clean, minimal aesthetic and accented with wooden wall panels that add texture and warmth. A new veneer plaster fireplace now anchors the main living space, adding a soft, architectural focal point. In the bathrooms and select accent areas, Semco Microcement was used for a seamless, refined look. Oversized ceramic tiles complement the overall design, and the red brick exterior has been whitewashed to reflect the modern aesthetic inside.
What makes this home truly special is how everything flows. Nothing feels forced. The finishes, the colors, the layout, it all works together to create a space that feels elevated but still comfortable, modern but never cold.
Originally, this was going to be a long-term home. That intent shows in every choice that was made. But plans changed, and my clients are now relocating back to New York. While it's bittersweet for them, it opens the door for someone else to enjoy everything this home has to offer, without the stress, time, or cost of doing the work themselves.
987 Shipmaster Avenue is not just another listing. It's one of those homes that stays with you, and once it's gone, it's gone.
987 Shipmaster Avenue is move-in ready, impeccably staged, and truly one-of-a-kind. If you've been searching for something that feels special-not cookie cutter, not builder-grade, but truly elevated and personal-this might be the one that's been waiting for you.
